A playful Memphis design from 1982, the Callimaco Floor Lamp by Ettore Sottsass is often described as a “horn of light” because of its resemblance to an oversized musical instrument. Atop the yellow-painted aluminum shaft sits the bright-red accent of the lamp’s steel diffuser, which points to the ceiling to fill your room with indirect LED light. The lamp sits on a conical gray-painted steel base—the “bell” of the giant trumpet inspiration for the design. The Callimaco features an incorporated touch dimmer and uses a 35W LED bulb. It measures 78.75h with a 15.4”diam. ase and a 96”l cord. Ettore Sottsass, a founding member of the Memphis Design Group, is a designer with work in MoMA’s collection.
